The smart electrically driven vibratory hammer

ABOUT EFE TECHNOLOGY

THE SMART ELECTRICALLY DRIVEN VIBRATORY HAMMER

When vibro hammers were first developed in the 1950s, they were all electrically driven. However, the high weight and limited controllability of electric motors at that time restricted the performance of these machines. As a result, hydraulic drive systems were introduced in the 1970s.

This significantly improved the performance of vibro hammers and led to the widespread adoption of vibratory technology worldwide.

However, hydraulic drive systems have a relatively low efficiency, particularly at partial load. This means to get the same drive power on the eccentrics you need a much larger diesel engine, using proportionally more fuel. In today’s environment, where fuel is expensive and diesel engines are becoming increasingly complex, this disadvantage has become more significant.

Furthermore, when aiming for zero-emission operation by powering the vibro hammer with a battery pack, the poor efficiency of hydraulic systems requires higher power and a much larger battery system.

For this reason, EFE – part of electrification specialist Equip – has developed an electric drive system that combines the power and efficiency of electric drive with the performance of hydraulic systems.

Benefits

THIS IS WHY WE CALL IT THE SMART ELECTRIC VIBRATORY HAMMER!

4 eccentrics, 4 drive motors, no gears and no mechanical adjustment system – instead using electronic synchronization.

This results in high efficiency, high power, and low maintenance costs.

ZERO EMISSIONS
• Battery powered
SMALLER BATTERY PACK
• Lower energy consumption results in a smaller battery system
HIGH PERFORMANCE
• 2x higher drive power
• Low dynamic weight
REDUCED MAINTENANCE
• No diesel engine
• No hydraulic system and no gears or adjustment mechanism
LOW ENERGY CONSUMPTION
• Up to 40% less energy loss
LOWER ENVIRONMENTAL RISK
• Very limited amount of hydraulic oil

Current Situation

The first two machines have been in operation since March 2026 at locations in the Netherlands.

In spring 2026, our contacts will be invited to visit one of the project sites where the machines are operating. We are also open to supplying new machines.

About the 25ESYNC

SYSTEM & OPERATION

System configuration

The 25eSync consists of a vibro hammer, an EPU (Electric Power Unit) and a cable package.

EPU (Electric Power Unit)

The EPU contains the battery pack, frequency drives, charging equipment and a small hydraulic power pack.

Electric drive system

The system allows each eccentric shaft to be controlled individually. As a result, gears connecting the eccentric shafts are no longer required.

Variable moment

The variable moment mechanism is no longer necessary, as the moment can be electronically controlled from 0 to 100%.

Clamp

The clamp itself is hydraulically operated. The vibro hammer can be supplied with different hole patterns.

Battery pack

Standard capacity is 490 kWh, expandable in two steps up to 820 kWh. Depending on the project, this allows for a full working day of operation.

Charging

If construction power is available, the EPU can be charged 24/7 via two AC connections. In addition, the EPU can be charged using a 150 kW DC charger.

Use & operation

The system layout and controls are very similar to those of a hydraulic vibro hammer, minimizing the learning curve for operators while allowing them to appreciate the quiet operation.

Result

An efficient vibro hammer with minimal energy loss, very quiet operation, and higher drive power than comparable hydraulic vibro hammers.
